Learn one of the oldest methods of pottery and how to shape clay into beautiful shapes with your own hands. 

 

What is Handbuilding?

Handbuilding the technique that involves creating forms using your hands, fingers or simple tools. This tactile process uses methods of slab building, coil building and pitching to create exciting shapes. 

 

Who can try it?

Goodman Ceramic Studio offers a range of handbuilding classes for all ages and all skill levels.

 

For the beginners we recommend the Trial Handbuilding Throwing class. This is a fun one time 'have a go' class that will teach you the basics. 
 

Want to learn more about pottery and love working with clay, then sign up for our Basic Handbuilidng Throwing class. This 4 sessions flexible program will teach you the skills you need to create any pottery form. 

 

Kids can join in the fun with our Pottery for Kids sessions or My First Mug program. Even the little kids can join an older family member to have fun with our Family Clay Fun program or selected Project Series programs.  Keep an eye out for our school holiday programs too.  

 

More experienced artists can join one of our Studio Access programs. With our flexible studio access program, you can practice at your own pace to hone your pottery making skills.
